The Widow's Offering..

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said,
"I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
They all gave out of their wealth,
but she,
out of her poverty, put in everything - all she had to live on".

(Mark 12:43,44)

One day, in the temple courts, Jesus sat down opposite to the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people came and threw in large amounts and gifts. Among theses rich people, came a widow near the treasury and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.

Observing this, Jesus wanted to tell a truth about self denial and the priority we give to God in our life. For the rich, who threw in large amounts, it was a small part of their wealth. But the humble offering which this poor widow offered to God was the "everything" she had to sustain herself. That two very small copper coins would have provided her with food for that day. But, she denied herself and gave the priority to God and gave everything she had - all she had to live on.

What kind of offerings we make? Sometimes we offer our wealth, sometimes our talents, sometimes our time and many a times our devoted heart. Do we give God part of it, or we offer him everything? Does that mean that we are supposed to give everything we have and stand empty handed? No. Jesus, wants us to offer God, whatever we offer, with a full heart, having faith that God will provide. Let it be your precious time, your talent, your hard work or your heart. Whatever you offer to God, offer it with a full heart which is prepared to give everything, because the faith you have in God is more than what you offer. Above all, learn to give God the best in everything. God will cherish your offering and make you a blessing in others life.

May God bless you..
