Serve God While You Are Young

Young people, enjoy yourselves while you are young;
be happy while you are young.
Do whatever your heart desires, whatever you want to do.
But remember that God will judge you for everything you do.
(Ecclesiastes 11: 9)

               Many of us have the desire. Some of us have already had the visions. Few of us have set our feet on the mission. And some of us have postponed the work. Yes, we say that we are waiting for the 'right time.'

           Serving God starts from infancy. Right from the disciplines that you learn at your family prayer at home to the missionary trip that makes you a missionary for God, the service has different stages. We, my dear friends, at times tend to wait for the right time. But many of us say that the right time hasn't arrived yet; to serve!

            I would like to encourage you today to come out of this chalk circle that you have drawn around you. I want you to look around. See the avenues. God has already placed you in places where your service is needed. As you are called to serve for the extension of God's kingdom, I want you to start today. Because, my friend, you should not be a late start when it comes to serving God.

                As a teenager who has been growing under the guidance of many different youth leaders and seniors who have helped and guided me to climb the ladder, I have learned that the right time to start serving God is "now!" You may feel that you want to first build your self. You want to lay proper and stronger foundations and erect pillars that would last long. You want to be ready with all that you can when the "right time" comes. But my dear friend, what if you had spent your whole life preparing yourself and never used all your valuable preparations to serve God? What is the use of all your hard work in making yourself stronger and stronger.

                  Let me take you to the lines we have read from the book of Ecclesiastes. There is a clear message for us. We are called to enjoy our time of youth. I like to call it 'the summer of life'. Wow! Didn't that make your eyes widen? Yes! You are called to enjoy your youth and you are called to be happy. "Do whatever your heart desires." How amazing is that?

                  My dear friend, it is in the midst of this youthful enjoyment, happiness desires I want you to remember God. Do you enjoy working for God? Does serving God make you happy? Is there an innocent desire in you to work hard for the extension of the kingdom of God? If not, why?

                Why not your youthful schedules include the service you are going to do for God? Why not Jesus be in the center of all the happiness and desires that's there in your heart?

                 Serve God while you are young, my friend. Serve Him when your body is full of strength and your hormones are full of boiling desires. Serve our Lord Jesus Christ in the midst of the toughest peer group you may have to hang around with. There's nothing awkward in serving the King of Kings in your young and youthful works, isn't it? Yes! Find the avenues around you and rush to serve God in whatever situations you are in. God is there to extend His most powerful hand in your time of need and He will walk with you in this journey of service and spiritual adventures. Start today!

May God bless you.
