Trusting God in Difficult Times

 Isaiah 54: 10

The mountains may disappear,
and the hills may come to an end,
but my love will never disappear;
my promise of peace will not come to an end,
says the Lord who shows mercy to you.
(Isaiah 54: 10)

All of us, over the past few months in 2020, have been going through different kinds of struggle due to the pandemic. The struggle was not the same for everyone, and at the same time, the difficulties were not faced in the same way. There were differences. And each of us, with our own part of the struggle, have continued to trust the Lord. There were moments of pain, tears, difficulties, unreachability, helplessness, doubts and fear, but we continued to trust the Lord our God. Trusting God in difficult times is not easy, and the reward for such a trust is also not an ordinary one.

God promises us today that His love will never disappear. It is a never-ending love! And because of this eternal love, we must remember, that God continues to care, provide and strengthen us. It is not because we are worthy of these blessings, but because of His love for us. This magnificent love never fades. God's love continues to be with us and His love keeps us moving. We will never see an end, but an eternity, because of this love.

The things that we had our hopes on, the materials that we thought were the most important part of our life, the savings that looked so meaningful, the promises that were kept and we continued to expect were some of those mountains that we had in our lives. A few months ago, 'returning home' was a possibility within a day around the world, but now it isn't. 'Going to school' was a part of our everyday life and now it is more of social existence. Physically being present at the office was a matter of prestige and importance, and some of our cabins are empty with lonely chairs. A graduation ceremony was a dream event of an undergraduate's life and most of the universities are doing it virtually. Our mountains and hills in life were so many! And today, we could see them disappearing and coming to an end. We could see the entire world coming into a way of life. The systems, hierarchies, human relationships, different ways of income have changed. The world is not exactly what we knew it would be on this date a year ago. And that is why we may see a difficult time around us. We no more see what we wanted to!

Today, if we are in the midst of such a hard time, realising that our mountains and hills in life are slowly disappearing and fading, let us remember the Lord's love and His promise of peace. God has promised us that His love will never disappear and His promise of peace will never come to an end. Our loving Lord will never allow us to be forgotten and He will ensure the peace within the walls of our minds. God will provide all that we need in His way, in His time! Let us learn to trust God's promise even in the midst of these difficult times. Isaiah 54: 10 ends with the greatest assurance of God's mercy.  It says "The mountains may disappear, and the hills may come to an end, but my love will never disappear; my promise of peace will not come to an end, says the Lord who shows mercy to you." We have a merciful Lord before us. The Lord who shows mercy to each and every one of us promises His continuing love and never-ending peace.  Let us learn to trust God in difficult times. God will answer us in His time and in His way.

I pray that each of us will look to God and wait upon Him, and continue to trust Him. May the good Lord bless each of us as we come through each time of difficulty holding His hands. May the mighty power of God the Father, the grace and love of Christ Jesus and the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit be with all of us as we trust Him always.

May God bless you.

Yours in Christ,
