Do Not Give Up! Keep Praying..
Passage to be read : Luke 18: 01 - 08
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.
And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?
Will he keep putting them off?
I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.
However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
(Luke 18: 06-08)
One by one, there are needs coming up, and the heart sometimes fails to recognize them. Even when the heart does, our mind says "not at all possible in reality!" And even when the mind says "why not try," we still forget to be persistent in our prayer and many a times we give up! And that is why many of our prayer life is not fruitful.
We start praying for a special need, and we do the same for the next few days. Our human minds, that think within the human boundaries, always expects instant miracles. But that miracle does not happen sometimes. But let me remind you my friend, that the miracle that you are expecting is YET to happen. And you need to keep praying, and not give up. Yes!
In the passage we have read above, we find Jesus telling a parable to his disciples. The Parable of the Persistent Widow. The parable is about a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!" (Luke 18: 01 - 05)
Note those words. 'Keeps bothering me', 'Come and attack me.'
May be you never thought prayer to be this effective. And sometimes the above parable and the specific words may trouble you. "Is my continuous pray going to become a botheration for God? Or is my long days of prayer and tears become a trouble for God that he grants me for the sake of just asking Him?" Relax my friend. Let me tell you something really amazing.
God is really worried about how Persistent you are in your prayer! Yes, that's the word. "Persistence!" Even though the examples Jesus gathered to make us understand the point were worldly, we have to remember that He is God! And in prayer we are speaking to God and not to a human judge who waits until he becomes weary of your continued requests. It's just a comparison. And Jesus puts the comparison in a great way. And that is, if a human judge who is so ignorant to the feelings and emotions of the people could at last adhere to requests of a widow, then imagine how great the results of a earnest prayer to the Heavenly Father who is knowing every single thought in our hearts and is willing to grant the wishes and who takes each of us as so precious to Him would be. And that's what is bringing us closer to what Jesus says; the comparison.
So it's the persistent prayer. And our compassionate God loves it when His child is praying to Him, with an earnest heart and with persistence. Even though these prayers are not answered instantly, they are remembered by our Heavenly Father.
Let me tell you something more wonderful dear friends. Sometimes we forget what we had asked from God in prayer, but God doesn't forget! He remembers every single tear that fell from your eyes as you knelt down before Him years ago, He remembers the worst conditions from which you looked up to Him day by day, long ago. Your human mind would have forgotten it, but God's compassionate heart does not forget them all. He remembers your each and every cry, day by day, and He is waiting to grant your wishes. So hold on. Do not give up. Be persistent in your prayer. God will grant them. Do not lose your faith in God.
Luke 18: 06-08 says "And the Lord said, 'Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?' "
Look at that! Will not God bring upon justice for His chosen ones? He will, indeed!
And when the Son of Man comes on the earth, will He find faith on the earth? Will He find faith in you? And that's an important question. Think about it.
I pray that God will help each and everyone of us to be persistent in our prayer and keep the faith in our little hearts until the end of our life and beyond.
May God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
