He knows my name!!

“Zacchaeus, come down immediately, I must stay at your house today”.
(Luke 19 : 5)

Most of us, we have heard or studied in our Sunday schools about the encounter which took place in Jericho, between Jesus and Zacchaeus – the tax collector. It is described in the gospel of Luke 19: 1 – 9. As Sunday school students, whenever we heard the story, we remembered the symbols in the story such as tree, short person Zacchaeus, a big crowd to see Jesus, Zacchaeus climbing the tree and many other. But, the whole story promises the individual care God has in us.
Jesus, when he came under the tree, where this Zacchaeus was, he called Zacchaeus by his name. Has Zacchaeus ever met Jesus? Did he expect Jesus to call him by name? No. Amidst the crowd, and Zacchaeus being short, he wanted to anyhow see Jesus and climbed up the tree. Who would ever imagined that Jesus would come and stop under that tree and call him by his name? That is God’s love and care on each and every one whom He has created.

Jesus didn’t bother what the society thought about this chief tax collector in Jericho. He didn’t even mention for how long this Zacchaeus was lost in his own way. Jesus just called this tax collector by his name “Zacchaeus” and that brought a change in Zacchaeus’ life.

The bible says, Zacchaeus who was lost was found and saved. That day, salvation came to his house.

God cares for you. He knows where you are. He wants to call you by your name.

I remember the song;
“He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call”.

God Bless You!!

Listen to this lovely song.. "He knows my name".
