God's Love Continues Forever

 Psalm 136

He remembered us when we were in trouble.
His love continues forever.
(Psalm 136: 23)

The entire Psalm 136 is a reminder of God's love and the marvellous way in which God continues to express this love on us. By reminding us, one by one, who the all mighty God is, the Psalm encourages us to praise and thank the Lord for His love that continues forever. His never-changing love continues through all ages and situations. We realise this never-ending love of God that follows us even in the worst conditions and the most troublesome periods of our life. God's sustaining love is a reminder that He was with us when we were in trouble.

If, at any time in your life, you had ever felt the presence of God keeping you moving, it is God's love that continues forever! If you ever came through a hard phase in your life and later realise that it was nothing else but the strength of God that carried you through, then it is again a reminder that God's love is continuing in your life. There were so many times when we had gone astray, leaving away the closer walk of holiness with God, and we chose to run behind mirages that pulled away. But God's unfailing love continued to surround us.

I would love to remind us all about the times when we had come through troubles recently. Wasn't it a miracle to realise that somehow, through all impossibilities, through all negativities, God carried us through, showed us a way to proceed and provided us with a solution to our problems? Do you remember how impossible things looked for the human mind and the worldly situations? But God kept His promise! God brought us through all sufferings. Surely he did not promise that this life would be a trouble-free one, but surely God's promise is there that He will carry us through because His love is there. Anything may fade away, but the love that the Lord has on us continues forever and ever. That is the assurance we have in the Lord.

I just admire the way in which the Psalmist goes on describing the mighty and wonderful characteristics and miracles of God. The more we realise who He is, the more is our confidence in Him. The more we seek the Lord in His glorious presence, the more is the reminder that we are loved forever by the Almighty God. It is worthy of noting what the Psalmist reminds us of. Psalm 136 reminds us to be thankful to the Lord because He is good. It reminds us that we are loved by the God of gods and the Lord of lords. We are showered with love by the only One who he can do great miracles. We are called to cherish this love that we received from the One, who with his wisdom, made the skies. He spread out the earth on the seas. He made the sun and the moon. He made the sun to rule the day. He made the moon and stars to rule the night. He is the great God who killed the firstborn sons of the Egyptians so that anything in this world would not stop the great blessings He has for the ones who trust Him. He brought the people of Israel out of Egypt. He did it with his great power and strength. He parted the water of the Red Sea. He brought the Israelites through the middle of it, but the king of Egypt and his army drowned in the Red Sea. Our God our Lord led his people through the desert. He defeated great kings. He killed powerful kings who challenged against His power. He defeated Sihon king of the Amorites. He defeated Og king of Bashan. He gave their land as a gift. It was a gift to his servants, the Israelites. And this wonderful and amazing God promises His love forever for you and me! Isn't that great to realise?

Our God remembers us, especially when we are in trouble. He frees us from our enemies and every challenge that comes against us. He cares for us and He gives food to every living creature. And we are called to be thankful and glorifying this mighty God.

Let us remember who is behind us in all the phases of our lives. Let us realise how powerful and able He is. Let us also see how ever-lasting His love is in our lives. The Bible reminds us that it continues forever! What else we need? We have a loving God who walks the hard walk with us, who cries the hardest tears while hugging us, and he helps us stand again with strength and continue to run for Him, spreading His love in this world. Let us learn to be thankful to God for what He is in our lives. As we progress let us remember that He is our caring God whose love will continue forever and ever and ever...

May the blessings of God the Father, the love and grace of Christ Jesus the Son and the fellowship and presence of the Holy Spirit be with all of us and guide us.

May God bless you.

Yours in Christ,
