Remembering Miracles from a Miraculous God
"I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago."
(Psalm 77: 11)
I am remembering the time when I first started writing devotions back in 2008 and was sharing it on printed A4 size papers. And then, I learned to send the drafted devotional by email to a few friends. Then I was chosen and encouraged to learn blogging by my college principal. I remember the days when I realised that I have a common platform where I was able to write and share the link with people by email. Then social media platform took over. Sharing on a common platform became possible. Today, this blog has reached five continents, and over the years I have seen how miraculous and faithful God has been to me in this ministry. Isn't it amazing that God miraculously transformed things for me, and surely for you all? This format of digital reading and digital reaching was only a dream in 2008 for me, and miraculously God has given us the platforms to share His love and grace to this world.
I just thought of taking ourselves down memory lane, not of this blog but of miracles; the miracles of Jesus. The gosples of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell that Jesus changed water into wine at the wedding in Cana (John 2: 1-11), Jesus cured the nobleman's son (John 4: 46-47), disciples witnessed great haul of fishes in the Lake of Gennesaret (Luke 5: 1-11), Jesus cast out an unclean spirit (Mark 1: 23-28), Jesus cured Peter's mother-in-law of a fever (Mark 01: 30-31), Jesus healed a leper (Mark 1: 40-45), Jesus healed the centurion's servant (Matthew 8:5-13), Jesus raised the widow's son from the dead (Luke 7:11-18), Jesus stilled the storm (Matthew 8:23-27), Jesus cured two demoniacs (Matthew 8:28-34), Jesus cured the paralytic (Matthew 9:1-8), Jesus raised the ruler's daughter from the dead (Matthew 9:18-26), Jesus cured a woman of an issue of blood (Luke 8:43-48), Jesus opened the eyes of two blind men (Matthew 9:27-31), Jesus loosened the tongue of a man who could not speak (Matthew 9:32-33), Jesus healed an invalid man at the pool called Bethesda (John 5:1-9), Jesus restored a withered hand (Matthew 12:10-13), Jesus cured a demon-possessed man (Matthew 12:22), Jesus fed at least five thousand people (Matthew 14:15-21), Jesus healed a woman of Canaan (Matthew 15:22-28), Jesus cured a deaf and mute man (Mark 7:31-37), Jesus fed at least four thousand people (Matthew 15:32-39), Jesus opened the eyes of a blind man (Mark 8:22-26), Jesus cured a boy who was plagued by a demon (Matthew 17:14-21), Jesus opened the eyes of a man born blind (John 9:1-38), Jesus cured a woman who had been afflicted eighteen years (Luke 13:10-17), Jesus cured a man of dropsy (Luke 14:1-4), Jesus cleansed ten lepers (Luke 17:11-19), Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:1-46), Jesus opened the eyes of two blind men (Matthew 20:30-34), Jesus caused the fig tree to wither (Matthew 21:18-22), Jesus restored the ear of the high priest's servant (Luke 22:50-51), Jesus rose from the dead (Luke 24:5-6)! He is still doing great miracles amongst us, and His name is miraculous! Amen!
There was a reason why I listed out these miracles, even though they were many to go through one by one. We frequently remind ourselves to remember God's miracles in our lives, but seldom we take time to remember them. And this thrilling list that I made with the help of a list I found in christianity.com made me realise how important it is to read through the gospels and feel the atmosphere of miracles in the time of Jesus. He lived amongst us. He showed us the way. And the Lord extended His love to this world in such miraculous ways too. And, as we are reminded by Psalm 77: 11 to "remember the deeds of the Lord" and to remember His "miracles of long ago," let it inspire us to actually go through in detail, remembering the miracles of God in our lives, one after the other. I have done two important things in the paragraphs above. I made an attempt to look back at how miraculous God has been in my personal life and ministry, and in the next, I made an attempt to look back at how miraculous God has been in this world (We are sure there is so much more that have gone without mentioning, before and after the books of the gospel in the New Testament of the Bible.) What I have done above is the lifestyle of faith and gratitude we are called to live, remembering who God has been in your life, and what He has been to this world!
Today, this is a great calling. The more we remember God's miracles in our life the more do we look forward to living in faith. The more we look forward to living in faith, the more do we become testimonies of Christ Jesus and the life-eternal that He has promised. Remembering God's miracles in our lives is a way of worshipping. With hearts full of thanks, we begin to adore the Lord and become confident in sharing with others what He has done in our lives. Remembrance of miracles makes us a photo album of God's love, grace and miraculous work. Let us always remind ourselves to cherish and appreciate the miracles, the humanly impossible and magnificent ways in which the Lord has been leading us. Let our lives become a gallery where people could see and know how miraculous our God is.
May the power and blessing of God the Father, the love and grace of Christ Jesus the Son, and the fellowship and guidance of the Holy Spirit be with us and help us to be faithful servants who remember what our Lord our God has done in our lives.
May God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
"Million Little Miracles"
