When the Storms of Life are Around You..

The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?"
Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
(Matthew  8 : 25,26)

At times, things are fine in our life and everything in it is well placed, fitting to the plan. But as life goes on, it gets a little rough. We would have started on something in our lives and we believed that it will work out as we had planned, just like a ship that started sailing with it's grandeur and calmness, but suddenly it moves into a furious storm. All the plans we have made look feeble and vague.Things look like they are going to end.

We find it very difficult to move on. We assume this is the end. We feel that we have lost everything and it's not worth moving forward. But, my dear friends, let's look at something amazing that is described in Matthew 8: 23-27. A life changing experience the disciples of Jesus had in their life. I'm sure this experience changed the way they approached Jesus, but it would have also strengthened the faith they had in Him. I hope it strengthens yours too.

Jesus was with His disciples, sailing on a boat. He had got into the boat and the disciples had followed Him. While they were on the boat, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. It would have been indeed a surprising thing for the disciples, to see Jesus not being disturbed by the storm, but sleeping.

They went running to Him, woke Him up and said "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!". Indeed, they wanted Jesus to get up and either work with them to manage the sail or they wanted Him to be bothered about it and do something together with them. But, Jesus just takes this moment to teach them something very important in their life of faith.

The first thing Jesus told them when He saw them so worried and scared about the storm, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?"

What a question that was? People here in the boat are freaking out because of the furious storm and here Jesus asks them this question. Isn't it the reaction that any one of us will also show if there is a disaster approaching? Getting scared, being afraid? But why Jesus would say that?

The first thing that Jesus wanted His disciples to know and us too, is that He is with us in our journey. I can literally imagine Jesus asking us "When I'm with you, why are you feeling so afraid?
Don't you have faith in me?". I'm there with you on the boat . I'm there with you in your journey of life too". When God is there with us, we do not have anything to fear.

The next thing that we have to remember is that He will calm the storm. You do not need to worry about that. There is a powerful God in your life who has everything possible under His name and you don't need to be afraid of the storms that approach you. He knows that you are in the midst of a storm, and He knows that you are finding it hard to move on. He will help you at the right time, in the right way. He will calm every storm that approaches us, in His time.

So, when the storms of life are around you...
Do not fear, have faith and be calm.
You have the almighty God is with you in this journey.
He knows every struggle you are going through. He will help you.
He will calm the storms in your life.

God says to you in Psalms 46 : 10, "Be still, and know that I am God".

May God bless you.

Life is easy, when you're up on the mountain

And you've got peace of mind, like you've never known.

But things change, when you're down in the valley.

Don't lose faith, for you're never alone.

For the God on the mountain, is the God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make them right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.

We talk of faith way up on the mountain.
Talk comes so easy when life's at its best.
Now down in the valleys, of trials and temptations
That's where your faith, is really put to the test.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make them right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day, is still God in the night.
The God of the day, is still God in the night.
