The Lord Above Is Much Greater Than Your Troubles

Passage to read: Psalm 93: 1 - 5

The sound of the water is loud;
The ocean waves are powerful,
But the Lord above is much greater.
(Psalm 93: 4)

As a maturing and growing man, with daily challenges, failures and weaknesses in my life like any other, I am wondering at the Majesty of the Lord. How wonderful is the Lord. How big is His Name. And, how great is His strength and help. As I was reading Psalm 93: 1 - 5, I was deeply touched by imagining for a moment the Majesty and Strength of the Lord whom we serve.

The passage, with the best that the human language could offer, tries to describe the majesty of the Lord. It says, "The Lord is king. He is clothed in majesty. The Lord is clothed in majesty and armed with strength. The world is set, and it cannot be moved." Wow! The Lord whom we serve is clothed in Majesty. Everything around Him happens with His word. He pronounces and it happens. And that is the majesty of the Lord. He keeps everything within Him and within His mighty control. The Lord is armed with strength. There is no greater strength in this world than our Lord our Father. He is armed with the greatest of the greatest, far beyond the human expectations and measurements.

In the history of the world, human beings have been debating and arguing on numerous topics and thoughts in their life time, and the one and only topic that remains as an argument and a point to debate on through generations and generations is 'the Majesty and Strength of the Lord.' Isn't that the greatest sign of an everlasting God? The ideas have faded away and the mortal men who debated also have gone by, but the name of the Lord is still pronounced, questioned, debated and finally admired. The Lord is beyond the little brains of the human species that is carefully guarded by a fragile skull. The Lord is not a moon-rock specimen to be analysed and understood within a human mind; He is beyond all that! And whenever I realise in my limited imagination how big and great the Lord is, the only thing I ever do is to fall in awe in front of Him, with my forehead touching the floor and surrendering myself before His mighty presence. Because the Lord is clothed in Majesty and armed with Strength.

Ever wondered how big is the strength of the Lord? The ending of the passage we read just tries to make us get a glimpse of it. It says, "The world is set, and it cannot be moved" (Psalm 93:1). Yes. The Lord, with the strength of His words set the world to rotate in a particular pattern, and until today it obeys what He has said; until this exact moment!

My dear friend, today as you look around yourself and observe all things that are happening around you, I want you to remember that you were set in your mother's womb with the same strength of the Lord and He will never let you move away from the pattern He has set for you. You cannot be moved by the mere problems of the world. I am saying this with confidence to you, because the Lord whom we believe is clothed in Majesty and armed with Strength, and this Lord has every part of your life in His control. Do not fear, do not lose hope. The Lord whom we serve will take care of things that are even beyond the human thoughts and actions.

Just look what the passage promises at the end. After making us realise the majesty and strength of the Lord, the passage reminds us that "the sound of the water is loud; the ocean waves are powerful, but the Lord above is much greater" (Psalm 93:4). It may be such an acceptable fact that the conditions around you may be worse, negative as it can be and impossible to the core. Your problems today may be louder than your thoughts and powerful than your strength. But let me remind you my dear friend, that the Lord is much greater! Yes, He is much greater than all that would trouble your mind today. Trust in Him. Trust in His majesty. Put your trust not on yourself, not on the strength of the things and influences around you, but on the mighty strength of the Lord. He makes things possible that are impossible to human thoughts. Our Lord is much greater than all your troubles. Just remember that. His does not need any help. One word pronounced from His mighty presence is enough to change everything.

I pray that the Lord will cover you today with His everlasting, eternal, non ending strength. May you admire His majesty even in the midst of all the darkness, troubled waters and impossibilities around you. And may the strength of our Father hold you in place. May the love of Christ Jesus help you to trust Him beyond human limits because He loved us beyond boundaries. And may the Holy Spirit guide you and help you to remain in faith that always guides you to run towards the everlasting strength of the Lord.

May God bless you.

Yours in Christ,
