Cherish God's Great Gifts
Thanks be to God for His gift that is too wonderful for words.
(2 Corinthians 9:15)
Imagine yourself trying to give something as a gift to the one whom you love the most. Surely it would take you moments to first decide on what you want to give; you know the person's heart, you know every desire that's deep within. You also would like to give something that would make the person happy and something that would be of utmost use for that person at present; otherwise you fear that your gift would be a useless one. My friend, then just imagine what would it be when the Almighty God decides to give you His best gift! Wow!
In the verse we read above, we find that Paul, in his second letter to the Corinthians, uses a beautiful phrase to express this "Wow" I've used; "too wonderful for words." Yes, indeed. All that is given from our heavenly father are too wonderful for words. Because our loving God is "beautiful beyond description and too marvelous for words" and anything that comes from Him is the same. The gifts that you have received from God are beautiful beyond description and too wonderful for words. But, what are those gifts? Have you realised them? Have you tried naming them one by one? I am pretty sure then it would have given you a surprise. Remember that song? "Count your blessings, name them one by one..."
Have you felt at anytime that there are so many blessings in your life that you have never worked hard for. Blessings that made your own self wonder whether you really deserved it. Things that were never in your wildest imaginations, things that were never to be seen in your 'ambition bucket list.' Yea, but surprisingly there are many that you never imagined. Questions of how and why, just stir your heart as you think of them and count them one by one. And there comes the answer. That's why we call them "gifts." Because you didn't work for it. You never imagined it. But it was given to you as a gift. Wow. And who is the one who gave you these gifts? "Almighty God!" No wonder that those gifts that were given to you are too wonderful for words, because they came from The One who is too wonderful for words.
It can be your talents, your abilities, your knowledge, God given wisdom, the love and care that you receive from the people around you and above everything, the freedom from sin; God's grace that is most sufficient. Look at them all ( I have mentioned only a few.. The list may go on and on..) Who could ever give you such things? Could you buy them with the money that you own? No! Only God could ever bless you with such gifts. And that's why those gifts are too wonderful for words.
Dear friend in Christ, let me encourage you at this moment to realise, search and count all the gifts that God has given you. I am pretty sure, the number will surprise you. Name those gifts one by one, you will be more surprised. May you realise and cherish the gifts God has given you in your life and use them for His glory alone.
May God bless you.
