Where have we Built our Foundation?
"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock".
( Matthew 07: 24, 25 )
It is such a happiness to see that our 'house of life' is one of the grand ones found around us. Our life may be filled with all what we need. We may have walls with all kinds of expensive stones fixed on it. Our roof may be one of the most stylish found in our area. The number of floors in our house may be increasing every year. Our house may be on the verge of becoming the tallest and most noticeable on the main road. Our life may be pregnant with everything that keep the daily chores of everyday life moving on well. Our life may be surrounded by the beautiful garden that makes it a must visit to some of our friends and relatives. But my dear friend, I just want to ask you, where is our foundation built on? Will our house stand the storms of life? Is the ground on which we have laid our foundation strong enough to hold on, when the trials and challenges of life just blow against us? I just want you to join with me in thinking about this for few minutes. Have you ever read this passage? Matthew 07 : 24 - 29.
In our daily life we find, that life is so easy until we realize that there is a storm coming against. It is just then we try to make sure that things are fine with our shelter; arrangements are done for our security; we go back to the basics and search for the foundations of our towers. Many a time we end up realizing that the foundation is not strong enough to face the storm ahead. We stand helpless. Some of us do not even realize that, until our life is collapsed. The rain comes down, the streams rise, and the winds blow and beat against our house and it falls with a great crash. This is where, Jesus wants us to be assured that this never happens to us in our life. He does not want to see us collapsing and falling down with a great crash, unable to face the storms of life. He wants us to build our foundation on firm ground, on the rock, on Him.
It is true that we read God's word, listen to him whispering few things to us, know that he is talking to us in a powerful way, but many of us fail to put that into practice. Jesus says, that everyone who hears His words and put them into practice is like the wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it has its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears the words of Him and does not put that into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.
Once again, my friend. Where is our foundation? On which ground have we built our life? Is it on Christ our rock, or on sinking sand? Are we practicing what we learn from the word of God? Are we Wise or Foolish?
Let's ask God to help us to practice what we hear from Him and be assured that our life is built on Him and on nothing else. For it is the house which is having its foundation on the firm ground, will stand the storms, and the life the test of time.
May God bless you.
