From Tasteless Water to Tasty Wine..
Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.
Then He told them, "now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet."
They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water
that had been turned into wine.
that had been turned into wine.
(John 02: 08, 09)
It is one of the miracles of Jesus, and the first among the many, during His three years of ministry on this earth. The wedding that took place at Cana in Galilee, was the first place where Jesus helped a common folk to celebrate its wedding fully, by turning water into wine, when the wine was gone.
Unable to provide enough for the wedding guests by the family was more than a minor social embarrassment, since the family had the obligation to provide a feast of socially required standard. The Gospel of John calls it one of the signs; emphasizing the significance of the action rather than the marvel. It revealed Jesus's glory and pointed to the fullness of the salvation He came to effect (NIV). And this is where I want you to join with me, in realizing where is God's call for you and me, in joining Him in the purpose of His mission.
You may be one person, feeling that you are a tasteless jar of water, good for nothing, nobody finds anything great in you, and they take you for granted just like they take water in the presence of wine. It may take few circumstances for you to realize that even in a shortage of wine, people never took you as an option. But, let's imagine the scene which took place on that wedding at Cana in Galilee, where Jesus performed this miracle. I encourage you to read John 02: 1 - 11 before we proceed any further.
Did any one in that place, ever thought of replacing the wine that got over, with water? Did even the servants who took orders from Jesus to fill the jars, had the slightest idea that water would be of any use? No. If you search on the internet, articles and pictures related to this miracle, you will find that the world is still struggling to accept water in the place of wine. There are so many expressions made out of the difficulty people have, in accepting the fact that few jars of tasteless water can be turned into jars of tasty wine by Jesus. But. we have to remember one thing, that Jesus knew that the water which was never thought to be an option, can be used by Him. He knew it was tasteless, but he made it tasty. Made it as a cause for the happiness and joy in that wedding, where the common folk was in a need to provide for the guests.
Are you still feeling, that you are a jar of tasteless water and there is nothing useful in you in a celebration like this. I pray that God will help you to realize that you need to wait for His time. One day, when the time comes for you to be used, God will use you. You need to be prepared for that. All your emptiness would vanish and God will fill you with His spirit that you will become something to be cherished by others. Just like the tasteless water was turned into tasty wine and became a blessing to that family, God will make you a blessing in the place where you are needed. Pray that God will help you to sustain your faith in Him and to be faithful to Him, until the day He calls you to do something wonderful in His mission. God will use you and make you worthy, if you wish to be one of the jars of tasteless water, until He makes you a tasty wine.
May God bless you.
