The Lord Judges Your Reasons

Passage to read: Proverbs 21

"You may believe you are doing right,
but the Lord judges your reasons."
(Proverbs 21 : 02)

We make decisions everyday. And these decisions take us a long way. Every time when we step into a new path followed by a decision, we progress in that path believing we have made the right decision. We believe we have done the right thing. We tend to believe what we are doing is right.

It is true that we should have such a confidence in what we are doing. We need to be confident about the calculations we had done, the amounts we have figured out, the steps we have decided to take, the methods in which we have done it and the resources that are available to complete what we are doing. Interestingly, if we look back at the starting point of many of the things we are doing right now, we would tend to measure our success based on the end results. That's how the world also measures our successes. Right when we start, we decide whether it is right or wrong based on the results that we would reap out of it. But, let us remind ourselves, that the Lord judges our decisions based on the reasons!

The Lord knows the reasons behind every decision that we make. The people around us would know only the end results for which we decided to take a path, but the Lord knows the reasons for which we decided on the same. And the Lord measures those reasons. He weighs them. God judges our reasons.

It may be a decision about our work, field of study, life partner, our business initiatives, our ministry, about children, their education, our interests and whatever that is part of our life. Our decisions, a lot of times, remind us that we are on the right path as long as we see a promising treasure as the end result. The more we get closer to the result of all of our success pathways, we finalize on the fact that we had made the right decision. We assure to ourselves that we are on the path that we should be.

But the Bible tells us that the entire perspective is different with God. Instead of measuring our decisions based on the end results, God in His great wisdom of eternity, measures the entire process based on the reasons. He looks closely into the condition our mind was at the point of making this decision. His measuring scales scan the mutual benefits and profits that we expected when we decided to come on this way instead of another. God looks at the people whom we wanted to keep happy by informing them that we have decided on this. The Lord judges every single reason that your mind discussed within your self when it arrived at this decision. And that is what is important to God! That is what the Lord judges. He judges the reasons behind our every decision.

My dear friend in Christ Jesus, I encourage you to look into detail everything that you are doing in your life right now. I encourage you to look closer at the pathways that you are already into. Do you think you are doing the right thing? What are the factors that make you think that you are heading on the right path? Just again a reminder, that God is not looking at the end results on which you have decided, but He is judging the reasons. What was your list of justifications to make you believe you are doing the right thing? God is more concerned about that.

I pray that God will lead all of us into a time of reflection. I personally believe that the Lord will guide all of us to take the right decisions - not based on the end results or the measurements of the world, but by the reasons that we have. The Lord is very concerned about our reasons. And let us make sure that our reasons are right in front of the Lord when we make decisions. May the guidance of Christ Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit help us to keep our reasons before God and to see whether we are doing the right thing.

May God bless you.

Yours in Christ,
