Continue to Have Faith and Do What Is Right
"Continue to have faith and do what you know is right."
1 Timothy 1: 19
Apostle Paul reminds Timothy of a spiritual discipline, and this discipline is an important part of Christian living. Timothy is reminded to continue having faith and do what is right. In an age when faith is challenged by numerous circumstances and human conditions, and the frameworks of Christian living is blurred with new and attractive ideas, it is essential, as the believers in Christ Jesus, to focus on the right and important things. Paul's first letter to Timothy, chapter 01, verses 18 reminds us to continue having faith in the Lord and to do what we know is right.
What an extraordinary way of living it would be, if we, as believers in Christ Jesus, continue trusting the Lord without losing our faith. Even in the midst of all the impossibilities and negativities around us, it would be a challenge to push further in faith. And, that would be a life of testimony that leads us towards living this life with purpose; the purposes for which God has wonderfully created us in this world. We are called to be the reminders of faith, living this faith by example, and to help others continue their journey faith too. As workers who are invited to share the love of Christ Jesus in this world, it is vital that we learn to continue having faith through all situations, both positive and negative.
We are also called to do what we know is right! Paul also reminds Timothy, that as he continues to have his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is also expected to do the things which are right. Right in the eyes of God! On the one side, a Christian's faith has to continue, sustained by all spiritual strengths from the Lord. On the other, a Christian's life is expected to do the things that are right, by prior knowledge of the scriptures, and is called to continue doing the right things. It is only when this balance between faith and right living is found in the life of a Christian, we are able to, as Paul says, "fight the good fight" (1 Timothy 1: 18). It is only when this synchrony between continued faith in the Lord and right living is found in our lives, we are able to find fulfilment in Christian living.
Today, as we read this, situations around us may be challenging and difficult to proceed further. Our faith may be questioned at many points. Our way of living may be faltering and wavering. And this message comes as the wake-up call. We are called today to continue having faith in the Lord and to do the things that are right, even in the most challenging and difficult situations. That would be a life of glorifying the Lord; it would be a life of Christian example. May the power and blessings of God the Father, the love and grace of Christ Jesus the Son, and the fellowship and guidance of the Holy Spirit, be with us and help us as we continue having faith and do the right things which we know are right in every moment awaiting us in future.
May God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
