God will Make a Way..

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

(Exodus 14: 13 – 14)

At times in life, we pause for a moment and try to figure out where we are in the journey of life. Many of us, we realize that the past has not been easy. We would have faced many moments which brought us happiness and at times sadness too. Our past reminds us of few incidents which we can cherish in our lives and few we are ashamed of; we do not want them to be retrieved. With such shameful memories of incidents in our hearts, we fear that our past may affect our future too. We feel that we have been caught between the shameful past and the fearful future. Some steps we keep towards the future, remind us of the shameful past. And I would say, this is not something strange; but a true fact among most of us.
May I remind you of something? I just want you to have a clear description of what happened in Exodus 14.
I encourage you to read the full chapter and try to figure out whether you are in that picture.

As we understand the incidents taking place in that chapter, we find that the Israelites, who were living as slaves for so many years in Egypt, are being brought out from the slavery, to the land which God had promised them, led by God’s servant Moses. They were moving towards a free and happy life. The Israelites were moving towards freedom. These people of God, who were living the life of slavery are now hoping and walking towards a life which is promised at the end of the journey. They are making efforts to move away from a shameful past towards a promised future by God. But what happened? Was that way towards the promised life easy? No. There was this day where there were caught between the Red sea in front which they had to cross and the Pharaoh’s army behind, chasing them.

Crossing the sea reminded them of the promised land and the Egyptian army of their shameful past. The Bible says, as Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. (Exodus 14: 10). And in such a moment of uncertainty, in a time of fear, God promises to them through Moses, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." (Exodus 14: 13,14). God made a way for them; He took them to the place which He had promised. He was faithful to them in each and every move. God showed how powerfully He deals with our uncertainties. God delivered the Israelites from their shameful past. God made a way.

Dear Sister/Brother in Christ, we may be standing in the same place; caught in such a similar situation, where we do not know what to do. We may be just standing there between our shameful past and the fearful uncertain future. I just want to remind you, that God knows what to do with you. He already has His plan in your life. Do not fear, do not tremble. All you need to do is, to be still and have faith in God and see what great plans He has for you and be faithful to him in every moment of your life.

God made a way in the wilderness for His children; He will make a way for you!
