A Person who Respects the Lord

"Happy are those who respect the Lord and obey Him.
You will enjoy what you work for, and you will be blessed with good things."
(Psalm 128: 1, 2)

Life, at times, is filled with questions; sometimes confusions. Things do not work as the way we hoped for. Projects fail. The initiatives we have taken in the recent past do not look appealing. We miss to keep up the speed. Have become known to be a failure; success looks like a destination that is not possible to reach. Whatever we put our hands on may be doesn't see a clean finish. We are filled with the question, "why?"

Then it's time to take a short break! To have a revision. To have a life check up; just like a racing car pauses at the 'pit stop' in the middle of a race. Time to contemplate on a greater question.

"How much do I respect the Lord and obey Him?"

In this busy world, with our own busy daily schedules, we sometimes take things for granted. And sad to say, two of the most common things that we take for granted are 'the Respect' we have for our Lord God and 'our Obedience' to His voice. Many of us fail in both of these. And our progress reports on these two topics would show a fluctuation; frequent risings and falls. And why is that?

What can stop us from honoring and respecting the Lord in whatever we do? Which are the places we need to be aware that we do not fail to respect the Lord? The answer is, everywhere, every moment.

It can be our career, our work place, our education, our relationships, our homes, our leadership, our high profile meetings, our moments of decision making and obviously in our ministry. Are we respecting the Lord in all these? Is Jesus amongst us in all these moments? Are we giving the due place that God our Father deserves.

Let us learn to be so. Let us acknowledge the reality that Lord is in our midst and we need to respect His presence in the midst of us. Let us respect His ways and the way He wants things to be. Let there be a reminder in our mind every moment of our life that keeps asking us "are you respecting the Lord in what you are doing right now?"

Obeying the Lord in whatever you do is another huge challenge in this world. The moment when you decide to stand for what the Lord has asked you to do, the situations begin to put pressure on you. The circumstances just look the opposite of what you have decided to do. But obedience to God must hold you strong. You must learn to stand strong even in the most negative situations and your obedience to God will indeed take you further. Just forget all that is around and obey Him! God, to whom you have shown your total obedience would make the situations work for you. You can trust Him. He has proven Himself to be faithful and true throughout the history.

The passage that we have read above from Psalm clearly answers a huge question.
What happens to a person who respects the Lord and obeys Him?
What's the reward?

All the negatives that we discussed in our first paragraph up there, become positives. You will enjoy what you work for. Your efforts would always be fruitful. And you will be like a precious diamond in the hands of a great and mighty king. God will bless you with good things. And whatever comes from God to you would be a precious blessing and the word "Yes" filled in it. Your life would be a blessing to many others too.

My dear friend, let us learn to Respect the Lord and Obey Him.

May God bless you.
