Fear God, Not People.

Passage to be read: Matthew 10:26-31

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."
(Matthew 10: 28)

'Fear' is a word that brings in various interpretations. As human beings we have recognised various kinds of fears that are usually observed amongst us, as we have categorized and listed them too. And for us, who believe in God, 'fear' has a different meaning. Fear is the sign of relationship that we have with God. And the fear of God is what defines our precious relationship with Him.

A 'God fearing' woman or man knows the depths and heights of the most amazing relationship with God. They fear to sin, they fear to go against and their fear keeps them alive and burning with passion. The fear of God guides them and disciplines them, and this fear exists throughout. A fruitful fear!

Everytime we step into this world and begin to face the daily challenges, few moments push us to the end of fearing the people around. Fearing those who demand from us, fearing those who threaten us and sometimes fearing those who have the potential of damaging our lives. But why do we fear? What is the worst thing that they could do to us? We have to remember that, as human beings, with mortal flesh, we have a boundary; a boundary that God the Creator has drawn, and that is death! Beyond death you cannot hurt, someone cannot chase you and you cannot be loved too. And that's the limit of those whom you fear.

And the verse that we have read above from Matthew 10:28 tells us "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul." And yes! Count all these people whom you are afraid of. Scale them and see how much damaging and hurtful their actions can be. And let me remind you that they are limited with their potentials only within your life. They can only play with your physical body and your mental behaviour, and nothing more. You do not need to fear the people around you. We need to respect each other, treat our elders and superiors with utmost respect and humility, love and share with our colleagues and friends and sometimes even those who are younger and under our command. But we do not need to fear them! We need to fear God alone! The latter part of the same verse we read says, "Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."(Matthew 10:28)

A God fearing heart does not need to fear anything else on this planet. God will provide, God will safeguard and God will defend those who fear Him. More than anything, we need to understand that God alone has the power and authority over our lives. He is the One who is in-charge of our soul. He alone knows where we began. And for those who fear God, He has promised the greatest that any man or woman can cannot give, and that's eternity! A life beyond the end of the life on earth!

My dear friend in Christ Jesus, today whatever may be the situations around you; whatever may be the turbulent winds and tidal waves around you made by the people around you. Whatever the hurdles and obstacles  people may try to lay before you, you do not need to fear. As a child of the Almighty God, you need not to fear people. Fear God, and Him alone. In everything you do, be true to Him. And always remember that He is watching over you. Every move you make counts. And let your heart fear God. Even if no one is around you, God is watching over you. Let your heart always be pure in front of Him. Let your deeds be acceptable to Him. And your accountability of your life is to Him. God will take care of the rest.

I pray that you will always depend on God. You will fear Him alone and you will enter eternity with Him. People on this earth cannot chase you beyond the boundaries and they cannot hurt you beyond the borders. God alone holds your eternity.

May God bless you.

Yours in Christ,
