“Be still and know...”

God says, “Be still and know that I am God.
I will be praised in all the nations; I will be praised throughout the earth.”
The Lord All-Powerful is with us; the God of Jacob is our defender.

(Psalm 46: 10, 11)

Life throws challenges before us. Demands our strength. Questions our limits. And there arrives a season in our life when we begin to realize that there’s nothing that would take us through. We feel that we have lost all the energy to withstand the waves against us. The sand-storms begin to hurt us and blind our vision. As a result, we begin to tremble, lose all hope and end up lamenting over the situation.

It is in such moments that God reminds us, “Be still and know that I am God.”
Whatever our situation and circumstances might be, God is greater than that. He is in control. God wants us to be still; not to tremble, not to lose hope and not to lament over the situation. We need to be still, being confident in His mighty power to save us. And more than anything, realize that HE is GOD!

Is there anything that’s impossible to God? He made the Red Sea give way to His children. He made the Walls of Jericho fall with shouts of victory as His children praised His name. He stood up in the boat in the midst of the storm and calmed the sea with a single phrase pronounced. Isn’t God mighty enough to calm down the waves around us?

God, in whom we trust, has done marvelous things in the past, thus He will be “praised in all the nations.” He will be “praised throughout the earth.” Is there any other name that we know that is praised in ALL the nations? A name that is praised throughout the earth? No one else, but the All-Mighty God! Isn’t it amazing that we are privileged to trust in Him?

Our situations and circumstances would have been blurring our vision and our worry has kept us away from realizing who is with us. But today God calls us to “be still” and know that He is “God.” “The Lord All-Powerful” to change any circumstance, is with us, and He is mighty enough to make all the negatives into positives, tears into joy and our failures into success.

Trusting God, is not about how we declare it with words, but about for how long we are able to be still. Being still, and trusting Him through the hard times, realizing moment by moment, that HE is GOD!

May God bless you.
