Continue to Trust God

Passage to read: Hebrews 10:32-39

"So do not lose the courage you had in the past, which has a great reward.
You must hold on, so you can do what God wants and receive what he has promised."
(Hebrews 10: 35, 36)

Our journeys of faith are long. Our walks of faith are harder than we expected it to be. Our moments of waiting are testing our patience. People begin to whisper about us. And the little things that never bothered you till day are now slowly beginning to trouble you. You know that you are no more stable on this journey. Something within you disturbs, it makes you lose your courage. And you know, you have been affected. You've been affected by the loss of your courage. The courage you had in the past is slowly fading away. But hold on my dear friend! Hold on. You must hold on.

The passage we read above reminds us of the same thing. It encourages us to remember one thing in such moments of distress, disability and imbalance. God's word invites us to remember the courage we had in the past. The courage we had when we made that decision. The courage that we had when we took the diversion into this road. The courage that helped us to start, that encouraged us to move forward, to stand until this moment. Yes.

Remember that day when you fell on your knees and gave yourself to God? Remember that moment when you decided to work for Him? That minute that you wanted to do something great out for the life God has given you? Remember. Remember them one by one.

God's word says in Hebrews 10: 35 that there is a reward for those who run in search of that courage. A great reward is there for those who search for this God-given courage that helps them to move forward even in the worst conditions. And that is the "hold on" we are talking about. In moments that you feel that you are going to give up on your walk of faith, on this long and hard journey, you need to hold on by remembering that courage you had in the past. Run to that God-given courage. This remembrance will give you hope, and it will keep you moving. With hearts of praise, remembering how great God has been in your life, you will move forward. With thanksgiving in your heart, you'll be able to continue in your precious journey.

What amazes me is the reward that is mentioned in the next verse. Those who hold on in times of struggle in the faith that they have on God have two great rewards.

The first is, 'they can do what God wants.' It is so true that at such hard times in life if we miss running back to that courage that we had in the past our lives would begin to take diversions again and again, and sadly we will miss living this life according to the will of God. We move from bad to worse. And at the end of a struggle-filled and courageless journey, we will realise that we have not lived how God wanted us to live it. We wouldn't have done what He wanted us to do. We will be like that piece of that puzzle that couldn't fit into the greater picture of God, but demanded and went to its own space, just because we could not hold on, remember and run to God for courage in moments when we needed it.

The second thing that is promised for those who hold on and continue to trust in the Lord in times of trouble and hopelessness is that 'they will receive what God has promised them.' When you continue to walk with God in faith, and when you submit all your conditions, circumstances, situations and weaknesses to the Lord and when you run to Him for the courage so that you could hold on, you will receive what God has promised you. Your walk will be closer to Him, your journey will have spiritual adventures that cross the human limitations and in the end, you will receive what the Lord has promised.

Thus, my friend, I again remind you to hold on. Whatever hard, disappointing and hopeless your situation may be, hold on. Remember the courage that the Lord had given you in the past and run to Him for that same courage. I encourage you on this day to continue to trust God. Trust Him in all conditions and situations. Trust Him in happiness and sadness. Trust the Lord in victory and in failure. Continue to grow in Him. Do not give up. Our Lord our God will strengthen you and will help you. You will do what God wants you to do, and you will receive with happiness what He had promised for you. Be courageous. Remember God at all times.

I pray that you will run to God whenever you feel like giving up. May the love of Christ Jesus guide you to be perfected in your strength to remember the courage in the past and to ask God for the same. May the Holy Spirit's presence be with you and help you to walk a closer walk of faith with God.

May God bless you.

Yours in Christ,
