Keep Using the Gift God gave you
This is why I remind you
to keep using the gift God gave you
when I laid my hands on you.
to keep using the gift God gave you
when I laid my hands on you.
Now let it grow, as a small flame
grows into a fire.
(2 Timothy 01: 06)
Why that
expensive gift is still kept tightly wrapped into that box? Why haven’t you
used it for the last few months? Someone gave it to you with the thought that
you would use it every day. Now it’s all dusted and tainted. But it’s time to
open it; use that gift every single day…
Paul, in his
second letter to Timothy, encourages him to keep using the gift God had given
him. And he also reminds Timothy that this gift should grow as a small flame
grows into a fire.
God has
blessed us with so many different talents, abilities and gifts. And He has
blessed us with these precious gifts so that we would use them for His glory
wherever we are, whatever situations we are in and whichever moment is found.
We are called to use these gifts so that they become a blessing to many. As we
keep using our gifts day by day, for God’s own glory, it should also be a
blessing to many others.
Some
of you may be blessed with the Gift of Praying. You would be a person who is so
sensitive to other’s feelings, circumstances and situations. God has awarded
you with a heart to empathize. What are you doing with such a precious gift?
Are you praying diligently for the needs you felt that are among the people you
know? Is your prayer list full of pointers that your heart always reminds you?
Or, are you ignoring what your precious heart reminds you of? Are you still
waiting for any ‘season of prayer’ to come so that you would use your gift?
Come on! I encourage you to run towards the gift, kneel down and start today.
Not just praying, but let your prayer life grow day by day. If you diligently pray
for the two people that God reminds you of, God will bring in thousands more.
And imagine, you being a prayer warrior!
Oh
yes! By the way… What’s happening to our musicians and singers? What are you
doing with what God has blessed you with? Time to take things seriously. You
won’t be having much time. The end is near. Before that, use those gifts that
God has blessed you with. You don’t need a stage, a microphone or even people
to listen. Go and kneel down before the Glorious Throne of Grace every day and
sing. Play your guitar in worship, alone in your room. You will use your gift
to glorify our Father in Heaven, joining with the hosts of angels singing
praises to Him. Start it today!
And
you painter, choreographer, film maker, dramatist… When is your next production
that would glorify your God who is “beautiful beyond description, too marvelous
for words and too wonderful for comprehension?” Why haven’t you ever used these
gifts for God’s glory? Are you waiting
for the moment to arrive? You better rush towards the moment!
You
who are blessed with the Gift of Teaching… What’s happening? When did we last
teach someone about the chapters that have to explored before they meet God in
heaven. When did you last prepare your lessons with diligence and prayer, so
that you can use them to teach someone, when an opportunity drops in? Start
working on it today. Be prepared. Search for places where you could go and
teach; use this precious gift.
My dear
friend, God has blessed all of us with various gifts. There are thousands of
more gifts to be named than what I have talked about above. I am sure God has
blessed us with gifts that are so precious. You must use them. Use them every single day. Before you go
to sleep every day, your heart should be answering these questions with so much
of accountability. “Did I use the gifts that God has blessed me with today?”
Let your
gifts grow, as you keep using them every day, as a small flame grows into a
fire.
God has
called us to be His diligent ambassadors in this world we are living in.
May God
bless you.
