Pure Thoughts and Kind Words
Passage to read: Proverbs 22
"Whoever loves pure thoughts and kind words
will have even the king as a friend."
(Proverbs 22:11)
The world around us has been trying to understand the secrets of winning friends for decades. They have read books that would teach them the techniques of winning hearts, train themselves in communicating and would also go to the extent of trying out some of the influences they could leave.
The Bible also teaches on the same, but the magnitude is greater. The expectation is bigger. The passage we have read above refers to two precious characteristics which would make us unique and will even please the highest authority; it will have even the king as your friend. Pure thoughts and kind words. Having this precious combination within us would be one of the greatest benefits ever.
Having your mind always set towards things that are pure is something that the Bible encourages you to do. Let our mind always be pure. Let all that our hearts think be blessed with the precious characteristic of purity. Let us keep away the evil out of our hearts and let the wonderment of being pure surround us. We know it is not possible to remain pure by ourselves, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can stand pure in mind. Having pure thoughts in your heart allows you to first of all filter everything that enters your thought through this screen called 'purity.' It helps you to absorb what would enrich your soul and leave away all that would hinder your holy life.
Having your thoughts filled with purity helps you to focus on what the Lord wants you to be focused on. You won't have the burden of carrying all that enters into your minds with its own impurities. Your mind would be filled with good plans. And all the ideas, emotions and desires that come out of you would be filled with purity. Interestingly, this happens involuntarily. No masks, no dramas. Whatever comes out of your begins its journey from the fountains of purity within your heart. As the Lord's child your witness is great in front of everyone and people are drawn towards this purity of thought that they see in you.
Indeed, kind words do not just happen. They take their beginnings again from the fountains of kindness that flow within you. The world needs love, and you as an ambassador of Christ's love are called to share your kindness in this world. Words become action is a true heart. And your kind words lead you towards the actions of kindness. Every soul that is in need of peace and comfort seek words of kindness, and that is where your kind words matter. Let the words flowing out of you be a healing ointment for the wounded hearts. Let your words of kindness calm the souls that are saturated. And let your words bring peace by calming the wars of the inner self that do not agree on one thing.
Your kind words not only enriches of the life of others but also moulds you into a person whose actions have been influenced by the words that come out of you. Kind words shape you into a better person. It fills the aura around you with kindness. Your presence in a place itself is enough to generate this kindness that is heard in your words and seen in your actions. And that is the witness of carrying the image of Christ Jesus. And this is the lifestyle that pleases the Lord. The Bible says these characteristics "will have even the king (the highest authority of a kingdom) as a friend. God loves those who try and work towards being like Him, as His ambassadors in this world.
I pray that God will bless all of us with these two wonderful and precious characteristics that would help us to bear His mighty image in us. Let our thoughts be filled with purity and let the words and actions generate kindness. May the wonderful presence of the Holy Spirit help all of us to be like Jesus and to walk a closer walk with Him in His own footsteps.
