Today's Bible Verse

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: "Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips."

(Hosea 14: 02)

Returning to the Lord with the sacrifices of our lips is the third part of the series that we have been meditating on for the last three weeks - "Returning to the Lord." Verse 02 from Hosea chapter 14 has become so familiar to us since we have been studying it time and again for the last three weeks. While we focused on the different parts of the verse over the weeks, breaking the truth hidden in each of those parts, I believe, we have also begun to view them as essential parts of our closer walk with Christ Jesus our Lord. 

We are reminded today that as we are returning to the Lord, and we are called to return with sacrifices of our lips. What is this "sacrifices of the lips?" The immediate response and the reflection to being forgiven and received by the Lord when we return to Him is the sacrifices that we make through our words. The fruit of the lips is the words. The product of the lips is the every word that comes from us, and this could be the praise, the worship, the confession, the petition, the intercession that we make through words when we return to the Lord. 

Throughout our learning of the Bible, especially the Old Testament, we understand how offering a sacrifice has been a way of worship, adoration and commitment. And this is what we are also called to do when we retunr to the Lord. We are called today to return into His presence with our words of praise, worship, adoration, confession, intersession and commitment. 

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, now and evermore.
